365 Data Centers is off to a strong start in 2016. Our first quarter sales were 22% higher than the same quarter last year driven by new customers and existing customers adding more sites. The second quarter looks equally as promising. What’s more, our customer retention is now the highest in the company's history. Maintaining our record of 100% uptime contributes and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction remain top priories.
The market for hybrid enterprise deployments is evident in our cities as well. Our customers are re-engineering their infrastructure to leverage cloud applications while also maintaining proprietary computing, analytics and storage capabilities. Their decision criteria for data center space focuses on multi-carrier, neutral facilities with direct access to cloud providers and flexible business terms as they re-size their owned corporate environment.
We are also witnessing accelerated movement to the edge. Content distribution continues its rapid growth as the preferred delivery medium for everything from live linear television programming to streaming music to binge watching. Content providers are focused on improving video re-buffering, latency, and restarts as key ways to reduce abandonment. When content is consumed on any device at any time in any place, serving it from a half dozen locations in the US is impractical. Tier 2 cities, once considered markets too small to warrant caches, are becoming as important as Tier 1 cities with respect to content consumption. 365's colocation presence in 14 US cities enables our cutomers to distribute content more effectively to local networks.
We anticipate a record year at 365. Investments in the cable plant, wireless spectrum and fiber deployments all point toward higher data creation, analysis, storage and consumption. Those trends lead to more demand for data center space located in key cities where job creation, affordability, and growth are priorities. That’s a winning combination.
Whether you’re a large enterprise, an established managed service provider or new tech start-up, you need to be able to connect your internal IT environment to the public cloud. Our customers look to 365 to help them scale out of their on-premise environment for testing and development, QA, DR or production. They also use the public cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure.
365 Data Centers has more than sixty carrier partners and numerous ways to connect you from your office to our data center to the public cloud over both the Internet or private networking.

Sustaining 100% application uptime for mission-critical data center environments is a non-negotiable requirement. However, unplanned downtime is always a looming possibility due to system failures, human error, and natural disasters. Companies are losing as much as $100 million per year to downtime, according to an Infonetics Research survey.
Ensuring 24/7 availability of IT servers and applications is not an impossible mission. The keys to making this possible are detailed planning, regular system maintenance, and most importantly, expert management by experienced data center professionals.
